Intern:

The Division's Internship Program is a working internship. It offers a challenging and hands-on experience focused on real-world field operations coupled with a valuable, but more limited, understanding of other departments in order to round out the overall learning experience and knowledge base. The Internship Program also affords an Intern the opportunity to make an honest impact on a Lennar community as the Community Team strives to meet a production homebuilding schedule while maintaining the Division's high expectations of quality, value and customer satisfaction.



Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete 10-Hour OSHA Training Course.
  • Learn a typical home's construction critical path schedule from start to finish.
  • Observe a weekly Community Team Meeting between Construction Manager and New Home Consultant as they connect with each customer via phone.
  • Observe a homebuyer Pre-Construction Meeting.
  • Observe a homebuyer Pre-Drywall Meeting.
  • Aid in a home's Quality Control Inspection (QCI) preparation.
  • Conduct a home's QCI with Director of Construction or Area Construction Manager.
  • Observe a homebuyer New Home Orientation prior to closing.
  • Gain a general overview of Hyphen BuildPro, Lennar's electronic Trade Partner scheduling and payment tool.
  • Secure and unsecure homes under construction each day.
  • Ensure jobsite and home cleanliness by inspecting daily.
  • Understand and enforce basic safety and storm water management requirements.
  • Gain general knowledge of jurisdictional inspections. Walk with/observe inspectors and address any deficiencies noted during inspections.
  • Read site plans and architectural/structural plans.
  • Review Trade Partner Scopes of Work.
  • Understand Option Summaries and other needed paperwork to include window postings.
  • Observe and assist Construction Manager with inspecting homes to validate construction schedule, confirm work completion and/or create punch list of incomplete work.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Enrolled at accredited 4-year university or college in pursuit of Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) required.
  • Construction Management degree program or equivalent preferred. All majors considered.
  • High character and exceptional work ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Leadership potential.
  • Highly PC proficient, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Valid Driver's License and auto insurance coverage. Provide own daily transportation.

Physical Requirements

Able to work in excess of eight hours per day in the confined quarters of a construction trailer, the ability to operate a motor vehicle, climb stairs/ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and/or carry equipment which, occasionally operate construction equipment. Able to sit at a computer monitor for extended periods of time to complete paperwork, meet with trade partners, and receive/return phone messages. Must be able to work in construction environment under all weather conditions. Finger dexterity may be required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
