Job Title: Full-Time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher

Location: Arlington, VA

Description: We are seeking a dedicated Full-Time Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team in Arlington, VA. As an essential member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The ideal candidate will have experience working with this population, proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), and a passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address students' unique learning needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student support
  • Utilize assistive technology and other resources to facilitate communication and access to the curriculum
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes students' academic growth and social development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Valid teaching license in Special Education or Deaf Education (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
