Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Manager oversees a diverse group of Mechanical Engineers and Product Designers and ensures the most effective means are being utilized to design, test, and deliver innovative subsea hardware that meets or exceeds customer requirements. The Mechanical Engineering Manager also collaborates with managers of other engineering disciplines to facilitate seamless execution.

Duties & Responsibilities

The specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Manage personnel in the Mechanical Engineering department, that includes several functional leads with direct reports, and their training and development.
* Identify and manage resource needs across projects and programs and hire talent when necessary.
* Create career development plans, manage performance, and conduct performance reviews.
* Identify training needs for each fiscal year and develop a training budget for the group.
* Participate in fiscal year engineering budget development.
* Participate regularly in design reviews to ensure hardware quality.
* Monitor and ensure maximization of Mechanical Engineering labor utilization.
* Collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines in a team environment.
* Develop/Recruit talent in specialty areas relevant to Mechanical Engineering.
* Implement and sustain Mechanical Engineering competency program.
* Contribute to the preparation of proposals, technical proposal work statements and specifications, budget estimates.
* Ensure technical leadership and excellence is achieved by mentoring less experienced engineers.
* Support IRAD projects and participate in IRAD governance rhythm.
* Collaborate with corporate IT Engineering Software Lead and provide input on new Mechanical Engineering software needs, upgrades, and timing.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL:


* BS in Mechanical Engineering.
* 10+ years' experience leading engineering teams through project lifecycle.
* 8+ years' experience in Engineering Management and Product Development.
* Experience working independently and managing priorities.
* Experience developing electro-mechanical systems in a manufacturing and assembly environment for subsea applications.
* Comprehensive knowledge and overall understanding of integrated engineering systems.
* Ability to lead a diverse engineering team in a remote and hybrid working environment.
* Must possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
* Strong communication and presentation skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, and customers.
* Previous experience developing products for subsea applications is required.
* Experience with CAD and FEA software is required.
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.

DESIRED:


* Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience in Program/Project management.
* Knowledge and/or experience in tethered or untethered underwater vehicles.
* Interdisciplinary experience/knowledge (Software, Electrical).
