Job Announcement

This position performs a variety of accounting and procurement functions in support of the Wastewater Management business areas, and will work under the direction of the Accounts Payable Supervisor (AAV). Responsibilities include:

  • Prepares a variety of financial documents in the FOCUS (Fairfax County Unified System) Financial module to include invoice payments, journal entries, fund reservations and employee reimbursements.
  • Performs detailed reconciliation of agency procurement card accounts and distribution of clearing account expenses utilizing journal entries.
  • Processes material receipts for services in the FOCUS Procurement System; maintains invoice/goods receipt integrity for agency purchase order documents; ensures accuracy of financial coding on payments for multiple Wastewater funding sources.
  • Reconciles financial reports to ensure appropriate funds, cost center and commitment items are reflected for each transaction.
  • Ensures financial documents are easily retrievable and audit ready.
  • Collaborates with other administrative assistants in the Wastewater Program to maintain seamless accounts payable back-up when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and two years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, credit check, and driving records check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 2 years' experience with processing invoices for payment.
  • At least 2 years' experience with monthly reconciliation of accounts and financial reports.
  • At least 2 years' experience with SAP/FOCUS Finance, Procurement and Marketplace systems.
  • At least 2 years' experience with processing accounting documents in a financial system.
  • At least 2 years' providing customer service.
  • At least 2 years' experience processing employee travel and reimbursements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to produce handwritten and typed documents. Ability to read financial reports and use computer/PC to enter financial data into county system. Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time and employee may be required to walk, bend, and carry items less than 15 lbs. Job is generally sedentary in nature; however, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor and must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
