Objectives

Cedar, Clinton, and Muscatine Counties are seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time position with the Iowa Obesity Program Leveraging Activities and Partnerships to Address Obesity (Iowa LEAP) project team.

This position will provide coordination, management, and assistance to the county project team in completing tasks related to the Iowa LEAP project. The project will address two key obesity-associated risk factors--poor diet and physical inactivity.

 

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include working with project team members to manage daily LEAP tasks, including working with local community members to build coalition capacity and sustainability; coordinating networking meetings for county stakeholders, executing and leading county coalition meetings, and assisting with county assessment activities led by state and program specialists; supporting project planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting to state LEAP team.

This position will work closely with each county coordinator to ensure ongoing coordination with state LEAP staff, including post-award monitoring and reporting activities, monthly conference calls with the state LEAP team, and participation in peer-sharing opportunities.

The successful candidate will be familiar with virtual meeting platforms, have written and oral communication and presentation skills, and have user experience with Microsoft Office. The LEAP County Program Assistant will provide program-level support for at least one year of the funding cycle with an opportunity for renewal for up to 4 years during the award period.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree and 2 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, dietetics, food and nutrition, exercise science, physical activity, kinesiology, nutrition education, community nutrition or closely related field.
  • Relevant planning experience with committees or coalitions.
  • Experience working with nutrition, food, or physical activity system initiatives.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience with preparing reports/presentations.
  • Experience with data entry and management

Additional Information

This is a full-time position at 35 - 40 hours a week, located in either Cedar, Clinton or Muscatine County Extension Office. Hours will vary according to planned events, which could include days, evenings, and weekends. Programming sometimes takes place outside of the office; therefore, travel will be required. Personal vehicle required; mileage to be reimbursed at the current IRS rate.
