Job Title: Houseparent, Live-in Direct Care for Children's Residential Home

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Houseparent in a Children's Residential Home. The Houseparent will reside on-site and play a pivotal role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children who may have experienced trauma or are in need of residential care. This position demands a high level of responsibility and commitment to ensuring the wellbeing and development of the children under our care.

Responsibilities:
1. Create a safe and nurturing environment for children residing in the residential home.
2. Provide 24/7 direct care, 14 days on/7days off, supervision, and support to children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
3. Implement and maintain a structured daily routine that promotes appropriate behavior, personal growth, and age-appropriate life skills development.
4. Develop positive and therapeutic relationships with children, serving as a mentor and role model.
5. Assist children with daily activities, including meals, hygiene, schoolwork, recreational activities, and medical appointments.
6. Administer prescribed medications in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
7. Collaborate with the program team to develop individualized care plans for each child and ensure their progress is documented and communicated effectively.
8. Effectively handle crisis situations, using de-escalation techniques and appropriate intervention methods, while prioritizing the safety and wellbeing of the children.
9. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages children's participation in house chores, community engagement, and social activities.
10. Maintain accurate and confidential records
11. Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and supervision sessions to enhance job knowledge and skills.
12. Collaborate with other residential staff, therapists, educators, and external service providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for each child.
13. Complete house-related duties, such as meal planning, grocery shopping, cleaning, and laundry, while maintaining a clean and organized living environment.
14. Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, ensuring compliance with licensing and accreditation standards.

Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
2. Proven experience working with children, preferably in a residential care or group home setting.
3. Strong understanding of child development and trauma-informed care.
4. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with children from diverse backgrounds.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
7. Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and crisis intervention techniques.
8. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and evolving environment.
9. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if required to transport children).
10. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
11. Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal records and child abuse clearances.
