What will the Senior Software Development Engineer in Test do?

The Senior SDET position is responsible for ensuring product quality, functionality, and security across assigned projects supporting the CertiPath TrustSuite product family. This includes test planning and design, preparing test execution, conducting tests, and tracking/reporting identified issues in alignment with all applicable standards and requirements. The Senior SDET will report to the Manager of Product Quality and Security and will work closely with the Development team to ensure that our products deliver the highest possible customer satisfaction.

Note: This is a hybrid position. The Senior SDET may be on site in Reston, VA 2 to 3 days a week.

What does a typical day look like for the Senior Software Development Engineer in Test?

Although no two days will be the same, you will:

  • Proactively engage in defining, evolving, and maturing quality and security for CertiPath software solutions across the TrustSuite product family
  • Work closely with CertiPath project team members to define and apply best-in-class, scalable processes for expanding and maintaining the automation suite and security controls in support of the TrustSuite product roadmap
  • Take corrective action when needed to ensure the success of our product initiatives and client project scopes and guide efforts to the best solutions and outcomes
  • Work with CertiPath project leadership and product management to ensure that test plans effectively align with feature requirements
  • Participate in Sprint Planning ceremonies to understand Sprint Goals and the scope of committed Stories and support Quality and Security team members during the Sprints

The Senior SDET role may lead to a Lead or Manager role. With enough company growth, the potential is limitless.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the Senior SDET we’re looking for if you have:

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to get a government clearance (or a recently held one)
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology, or cybersecurity or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 10+ years of experience working with product management, product owners, and development teams as part of a Quality Assurance team in an Agile environment
  • 7+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test or in a similar quality control/test automation engineer position
  • 7+ years of experience developing automation in C# or Java
  • Experience building and designing test cases; designing and developing automation frameworks; and building, enhancing, and maintaining automated test infrastructure and automation harnesses
  • Strong, recent hands-on experience with the following tools:
    1. Java for writing automation code
    2. Selenium Web Driver for web browser automation
    3. TestNG framework for automation
    4. Rest Assured for REST API automation
    5. Postman for manual testing of APIs
    6. Eclipse IDE
    7. JIRA for test case design and execution
  • Familiarity with the following core technologies: .NET Core, Microsoft SQL Server, Vue.js, Python/Django
  • A strong understanding of SDLC and STLC
  • Experience using Bitbucket, Confluence, and Jenkins
  • Hands-on experience with writing SQL queries for database testing
  • Hands-on experience with or knowledge of test plan design
  • Recent experience with leading a QA team independently

We’re extra impressed by folks with:

  • Knowledge of writing Graph QL
  • Experience working with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) standards and/or Physical Access Control System (PACS) technologies
  • Experience working with secure SDLC technologies and DevSecOps methodologies
  • Advanced certifications in Agile methodologies, systems design and architecture, information security, or cybersecurity
