We have an exciting new Chief Engineer position available for an individual with proven leadership experience! The ideal candidate will have experience as a Facilities Chief Engineer and the ability to manage multiple projects while supervising a team Building Maintenance Technicians. The candidate will also have experience in HVAC systems, electrical, and plumbing repairs for a Class A office building.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Expertise: Utilize in-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to develop comprehensive maintenance strategies and troubleshoot complex issues effectively.

• Oversee daily operation of property BAS systems and operate as needed

Detail-Oriented Approach: Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of facility systems and equipment to identify potential maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure meticulous documentation of maintenance activities and compliance records.

• Responsible for proactively adhering to Company safety program and ensuring all employees adhere and complete safety training.

• Responsible for planning / preparation / providing active response to inclement weather to ensure employee safety

Leadership and Team Management: Lead and inspire a team of technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to foster professional development and ensure high performance. Delegate tasks effectively, establish clear expectations, and promote a culture of collaboration and accountability.

• Responsible for the management Building Maintenance Technician team, to include scheduling, daily assignments, and performance reviews.

 

Budget Understanding: Develop and manage the facility budget, meticulously forecasting expenses, analyzing costs, and optimizing resource allocation to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures, negotiate evaluate the financial impact of maintenance decisions.

• Participate in O&M and capital budget process

Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry regulations, codes, and standards related to facility management, ensuring full compliance with all applicable requirements. Implement proactive measures to address compliance issues and mitigate potential risks.

Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop long-term facility maintenance plans, aligning with organizational goals and objectives. Lead the implementation of strategic initiatives, such as energy efficiency upgrades, sustainability initiatives, and technology integration, to enhance facility performance and reduce operating costs.

• Oversee the ordering process of supplies and materials as approved by management

Communication: Communicate effectively with senior management, presenting detailed reports, performance metrics to facilitate informed decision-making.

  • Responsible for maintenance, oversight of repair work, coordinating / assisting external vendors / contractors with repairs.
  • Responsible for documenting all maintenance and repairs in logbook daily.
  • Assist with monthly budget reviews, providing analysis / spend history.
  • Responsible for managing work order/ticketing system.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to manage staff.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Candidates will have at least 5 years of prior experience as a facility Chief Engineer
  • Must have strong computer skills, such as MS Office Outlook, Excel, Word, CMMS systems, etc.
  • Must have a solid safety record in past work history and training in safe work practices
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and a clean Driving Record in order to drive client/company vehicles as needed.
  • Must possess the physical attributes that would allow for an extensive amount of walking through large campuses
  • Must be able to climb / stand on ladders while performing repairs or using various tools
  • Must be able to bend at the knees / practice safe lifting standards often throughout the day.
  • Must typically need to be able to lift up to 75 lbs. independently.
  • As needed, must be able to push, pull or move (using various equipment) objects around the buildings.
