Salary: $19 -$30 per hour DOE

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will work as part of the maintenance team to perform routine maintenance and repairs on forklifts, material handlers, and other company equipment to ensure the equipment is able to operate safely.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on forklifts, material handlers, and other company equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair brakes, tires, suspension systems, hydraulics, electric systems, replacing parts, etc.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Compile inspection reports and document repairs.
  • Test drive equipment to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment.
  • Ability to read repair manuals for various types of forklifts.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, and Sennabogen equipment preferred.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficient in diagnostic software.
  • Excellent mechanical repair skills.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Possession of own hand tools.
  • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program or professional certification is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.


Working Conditions:

This is a physically demanding position. The employee will stand for eight or more hours. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works inside and/or outside and is exposed to all weather elements, including: extreme heat, wind, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures. The employee is frequently required to use fingers, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. They will use a variety of hand and power tools as well as operate heavy equipment. The employee will be exposed to noise, heavy vibration, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
