The Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is a non-profit organization that provides summer camp opportunities to Florida’s Youth. We operate three traditional sleep away camps along with a traveling day camp program.

Currently we are hiring for our Senior Group Leader positions. Come work a few hours a month (PRN) now until the start of our summer season in May when you will transition to full time for the summer.   

Job Type: PRN Now & Then Full-Time in May

Pay: $360.00 weekly (includes room & board from May to Aug)

SUMMARY

This position involves coordination of all activities and functions within each unit area.  The Senior Group Leader is expected to work within the philosophy, aims, goals and operating procedures of the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches. The Senior Group Leader is directly responsible to the Camp Director. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  1. Demonstrates alertness and discretion while supervising group leaders in order to maintain a safe camping experience for all participants and staff.
  2. Displays compassion, patience, tolerance, and gentleness when acting as mediator to help resolve conflicts between campers and/or staff.
  3. Practices virtue and truthfulness in keeping the Camp Director informed of all program related activities and concerns.
  4. Uses creativity, enthusiasm, and initiative when scheduling group activities and coordinating activities with Senior Program Leader.
  5. Exercises discretion and self control while maintaining the character trait of virtue in order to be an appropriate role model for group leaders and youth at all times.
  6. Uses hospitality and attentiveness to make all donors, deputies, and guests feel included and comfortable at all camping programs.
  7. Exercises flexibility and availability when faced with change and displays a willingness to assist in any Camping Services program when requested.
  8. Demonstrates resourcefulness and thriftiness in the wise stewardship of the agency’s resources including all equipment, buildings, vehicles and other assets are maintained at Youth Ranches’ standards.
  9. Practices diligence and orderliness when completing required paperwork such as supervisor conferences, mileage logs, travel expense vouchers, incident reports, and time sheets.
  10. Displays honor, obedience, and flexibility when direction is given or success of the Youth Ranches programs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The person filling this position and have a high school diploma or its equivalent with at least one year of college or work experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age.
