JOB SUMMARY: The Application Engineer (AE) at all levels is responsible for supporting the salesperson or third-party sales representative with the technical review of our customer’s application. This defines our most competitive interaction. The AE team is responsible for promoting the sale of the Division’s products which requires abundant engineering knowledge to make judgments involving applications, installations, and economic consideration, as well as, handling all customer and distributor inquiries requiring technical assistance. This role assists in closing sales but is typically on a sales incentive plan based on team results.

● Provides technical support and solutions to the sales team and customers from pre-sale

strategy through client implementation and installation.

● Maintains extensive knowledge of complex aspects of products and systems.

● Analyzes customer requirements and illustrates how company solutions can provide value and

support their organization.

● Works in partnership with the supply chain and sales team to confirm costs, strategize sales

approaches, and ensure attainment of sales quotas.

● Prepares proposals and technical responses to RFI and RFPs.

● Understands specific client systems and equipment requirements in order to identify additional

sales opportunities to provide to the sales team.

● Recommends modifications to standard products to meet individual customer requirements,

within practical company and economic limitations.

· Provides written/verbal quotations and performs necessary follow-up in accordance with

enterprise resource planning (ERP) and company price lists, electronic quote tool, and

contractual discount schedules.

● May perform costing analysis on product line items versus published pricing to arrive at gross

margin calculation for review and approval by Applications and Sales Managers.

● May coordinate customer delivery requirements with the Production Department and configure

technical solutions for customers to ensure successful customer integration.

● Anticipates and answers client/sales questions on product functionality/usage, application inquiries, and appropriate product recommendation in a timely manner. ● Assists customers with troubleshooting problems, handles customer complaints, and solves problems in a prompt, professional manner; may be involved in investigating and reporting on warranty claims and return goods authorization (RGA) process. ● Collaborates and transfers technical knowledge with sales staff, trainers, and product support. ● Provides feedback to development, marketing literature, website development, and other system tools to boost productivity and as needed to increase sales of the Division’s products. ● Provides consultation or demonstrations remotely from the office, possibly onsite at trade shows, or by visiting at client site for sales or service-related activities. ● Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

● Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering (or international equivalent).

● Experience: Requires 5+ years of relevant experience.

● Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.

● Knowledge and experience with water filtration equipment is a strong advantage.
