OVERVIEW

Prince George’s Christian Academy is seeking a Middle School Math teacher with a dynamic Christian testimony to join our team. The teacher will play a crucial role in helping students develop attitudes, skills, and content knowledge in mathematics, contributing to their growth as mature, able, and responsible Christians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and implement high-quality instruction following the prescribed scope and sequence, integrating biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Establish learning objectives consistent with student instructional needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development in the specified content.
  • Create a culturally responsive classroom environment that encourages student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
  • Select and use appropriate instructional strategies, including but not limited to, whole group and small group instruction, multi-tiered group activities, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling, and multimedia teaching aids.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled collaborative planning meetings with colleagues and administrators, developing lesson units using prescribed planning tools.
  • Evaluate student progress using appropriate assessment techniques and tools on a regular basis, maintaining accurate grade records to comprehensively understand each student’s progress.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff/faculty meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning, taking necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and students regarding student progress.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Plan and oversee purposeful assignments for paraprofessional educators, student teachers, and volunteers, when applicable.
  • Perform non-teaching duties to support and assist students throughout the day.
  • Cooperate with administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for education and dedication to serving the Christian community.
  • Membership, in good standing, of a local Bible-believing church, or willingness to become a member.
  • Agreement with our articles of faith and a commitment to uphold them.
  • Gracious and Christ-like demeanor, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Understanding and appreciation for the ministry and mission of PGCA.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to individuals' needs.
  • Eligibility for MSDE teacher certification in the appropriate field; prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the teaching/learning/assessment process and technology for instruction and assessment in the field of specialization.
  • Knowledge of school organization, curriculum, teaching techniques, current trends, research, and materials of instruction in the field of specialization.
  • Excellent oral and communication skills and ability to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, administrators, office staff, and other members of the school community.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
  • Personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, professionalism, and agreement with school policy.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the applicable field of education required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of successful teaching experience required. A minimum of one (1) year of successful teaching in mathematics experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Holds or is eligible for a Standard Professional Certificate appropriate to the area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.
