Salary:

The Payroll Clerk for Kirby Cundiff Insulation/Firestop of Virginia is responsible for processing payroll and supporting company operations by assisting with accounting, human resources, administrative and clerical functions as directed. 


Compensation is based on related experience and skills. 


This is a full-time onsite office position.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 


  • Maintains and processes payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data
  • Ensures accuracy of payroll and processes /distributes weekly paychecks
  • Performs other payroll functions including federal and state required tax deposits and reporting
  • Maintains employee master files in accounting software including personal data, deductions, pays and other information
  • Assists with collection and submission of temp agency times and any necessary calculations
  • Reports certified payroll information weekly as required and reports new hires to child support
  • Identifies and addresses potential risks in payroll operations to mitigate errors and improve compliance
  • Maintains attendance program which records employee attendance, vacation, holidays, and other absences including federal contractor sick pay
  • Assists with hiring process, obtaining employee information, following procedures in support of company policy, monitors work authorization expiration, and complies with e-verify MOA
  • Processes Vets-4212 filing annually
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of employee and company information at all times
  • Serves as a Plan Administrator for group insurance plan(s), collects and disburses enrollment/membership forms, and assists with employee benefit programs as requested
  • Ensures the integrity of accounting function as a whole and information flow/accuracy
  • Maintains record retention and files
  • Follows standard operating procedures and both verbal and written instructions
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Two year college degree in accounting or equivalent experience   
  • Basic problem solving, math and analytical skills, ability to maintain and keep complete, accurate records. Quality focused, detail-oriented, and thorough.
  • Previous experience with accounting software, preferably accounting software
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products in order to produce and maintain word documents and excel spreadsheets to carry out duties
  • Self-motivated and trustworthy, with a high sensitivity to identifying and keeping confidential information private and protected.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to form relations with employees and customers and work as a team
  • Ability to successfully pass background check and other pre-employment screening
  • Driver’s License


Preferred Qualifications

  • Payroll and accounting experience in construction industry preferred. 
  • Prior experience processing certified payrolls (Federal Contractor)
  • Notary preferred


Physical Demands

  • Vision – must be good or correctable with glasses
  • Ability to work on computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for use of keyboard and phone
  • Ability to bend/ stoop/ squat/ maneuver to file, and climb stairs


Work Environment

Work takes place in an office environment.  Some driving may be required.
