Formerly the family home of Mabel and Leslie Cheek, Cheekwood now serves the public as a botanical garden, arboretum, and museum with period rooms and art galleries. Cheekwood’s mission is to stimulate the mind and nurture the spirit, for not only our visitors, but our staff as well.


We are currently seeking an Adult Education Program Coordinator (Part-Time) to join our team. The Adult Education Programs Coordinator will work under the direction of the Adult Education and Docent Manager to plan and execute adult education workshops and classes, including the launch of a new lecture-based program: The Cheekwood Gardening School.


Duties may include:


· Communicating class details with instructors

· Creating curricula and supply lists

· Sourcing materials and maintaining a budget

· Generating any necessary program materials and signage

· Compiling information and media for marketing purposes

· Assisting in overseeing, logistics, planning, and execution of adult education classes and workshops at Cheekwood

· Generating ideas for marketing to reach new audiences

· Seeking out local teaching artists and instructors for potential future classes

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Education, Science, Humanities, Fine Arts, or related field preferred.

· Knowledge of the Cheekwood Education Department mission and the mission of the institution.

· Organization and communication skills, excellent written communication and public speaking skills.

· Strong interest in interpersonal communication and relationship building.

· Must have the ability to be flexible.

· A responsible attitude and professionalism toward career are essential. Must be a team player.

· Experience in a public or customer-facing role is required. Experience in working in a museum, botanical garden, school, or comparable institution is preferred.

· Experienced in using the telephone, computer, fax, scanner, copier, and projector as well as constituent relationship manager software and scheduling tools.

· 20 hours per week will be required when adult education programs are scheduled.


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to handle, feel, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms above the shoulder. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs.


Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment, occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
