Locally, since 2018, SMP Alabama has been producing modules and polymer products for Mercedes Benz US International (MBUSI) in our state-of-the-art facilities. Parts we produce include:

Maintenance Process Technician

The ideal candidate should have the following attributes and/or skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to demonstrate a troubleshooting mindset
  • Technical experience in maintenance type work is a plus
  • Experience maintaining auxiliary equipment
  • Ability to set-up machinery, test quality delivered and communicate changes to the Maintenance organization
  • Hands-on, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of assembly and auxiliary equipment - hydraulics, controls, electrical, robots, conveyors and vision systems.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office programs for generation of charts/presentations

Main Duties

    • Setup and troubleshooting of assembly machinery
    • Maintain flow and quality of parts being produced
    • Communicate process changes with the team
    • Prepare equipment for production ensuring equipment process is properly adjusted
    • Assist Process Engineer with Poka Yoke activities for OEE and quality improvement
    • Set up and implement pre- and post-production equipment checks
    • Responsible for equipment failure diagnosis and repair
    • Assist with new product runs and trials.
    • Startups and shut downs as well as troubleshooting
    • Continuous improvement in your area.
    • Monitor the production line and assure continuous flow throughout production
