Would you like to work with passionate and committed standards publishing professionals? Would you like to contribute to an ever-growing body of engineering design and construction standards enhancing the safety of the built world? The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is seeking a civil engineering professional to apply engineering knowledge and experience to guide committees through the content development process, abiding by all ANSI rules.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting standards committees in successfully meeting their goals
  • Coordinating and participating in monthly committee meetings
  • Facilitating standards content creation, quality control, and schedule
  • Creating internal cross-divisional teams for each standard
  • Working to move ballots forward with exacting adherence to ANSI process standards
  • Contributing to research on market needs, trends, and ancillary products development
  • Developing contacts with government agencies, affiliated organizations, and vendors
  • Working with grants office on public and private sector RFP's
  • Posting web content about resources, procedures, rules, (ballots,) etc.

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Two or more years of engineering experience including project management (association experience desirable)
  • General working knowledge across multiple specialty areas of civil engineering
  • Knowledge of ANSI rules and processes, and standards development
  • Intermediate proficiency with association databases, spreadsheets, and software manipulation i.e., outline templates, formatting documents, and creating formulas
  • Adeptness at developing and maintaining strong relationships with volunteers in standards development
