FLSA Status: Exempt

Supervisor: Instructional Designer

Location: US-Fairfax or Remote

Department: Content Creation

Level: Staff


Starting base salary range is $60,000-$64,000. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. Full benefits are available and the position is eligible for the Staff level annual bonus program.

Summary of Position:

Design and develop training and education programs for audiovisual industry curriculum by partnering with internal and external experts.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create new course materials working with industry experts and other team members, and by researching technical documentation.
  • Revise and edit current courses, including instructor-led classroom, instructor-led online, and online training.
  • Build new courses in Learning Content Management System as required. Adhere to the LCMS business and system rules.
  • Storyboard multimedia learning objects such as videos or animated/interactive art.
  • Work with faculty and volunteer subject matter experts and learners to specify gaps, needs and desired outcomes.
  • Write trainer’s notes, participant materials, and other documents.
  • Create multimedia materials using presentation software, rapid-development tools, and image/audio processing software
  • Analyze, write, and revise testing materials.
  • Plan, schedule, and track projects, maintaining aggressive deadlines and communicate risks in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Education or equivalent strongly preferred; or commensurate professional experience and expertise.

Experience Level:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in curriculum development for adults.
  • Please be prepared to show a portfolio of your work.

Technical Skills:

  • Candidates experienced in developing adult skills training in a technical field are preferred.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
    • A demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise English.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC products or similar graphics and curriculum development tools is required.
  • Fluency with instructional design models and methodologies such as ADDIE.
  • Knowledge and understanding of competency-based education best practices.
  • Belief in and dedication to continuous professional improvement in the knowledge and skills of content development.
  • Fluency in applying the principles of Adult Learning Theory, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Learning Preferences.
  • Highly proficient in time management, organization, planning, and prioritization.
  • Experience with authoring and maintaining in a Learning Content Management System preferred.
  • An interest in audiovisual technology and science preferred. CTS Certification an additional plus!

Travel: Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
