Therapeutic Recreation Director

Baptist Health & Rehab, a 5-star rated, 140-bed care center, is hiring a Full-Time Therapeutic Recreation Director to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting recreational activities for our residents. Ideal candidates are creative, highly motivated, and have strong communication skills. In addition to our great benefits, this position is eligible for a $2,500 Sign on Bonus!

This is a Full-Time, benefit eligible position working Monday through Friday. Hours: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. This position is eligible for a $2,500 Sign on Bonus!

Therapeutic Recreation Director responsibilities:

• Plan and implement activities for the residents in both individual and group settings.
• Encourage, support, and assist residents to help continue their individual interests and hobbies.
• Maintain an open working relationship with the resident's family/guardian.
• Observe and document activity attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement.
• Transport residents safely to and from activities of their choosing.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate staff in the Activities Department.
• Communicate facility programs and organize community events with residents, staff, family and volunteers.
• Act as a positive representative of the facility at all times.
• Respond to emergencies on an on-call basis.
• Perform other related tasks as requested.

Therapeutic Recreation Director requirements:

• Degree in Recreational Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant strongly preferred.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
• Knowledge of relevant state, federal, and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to display enthusiasm and a positive attitude in promoting activities.
• Ability to manage planning of several activities and events simultaneously. 
• Creative aptitude for training in arts, crafts, and games.
• Good communication skills, including ability to give directions to others in a manner that is pleasant and easily understood.
