JOB DESCRIPTION


Position Title: EHS Teacher Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports to: Education Coordinator Pay Range: $10-11.45/hr

Length of Days: 230


GENERAL DESCRIPTION: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Essential Duties

  • Provide a nurturing and responsive learning environment that promote caring, calm and respectful interactions with families, children, volunteers, interns, staff and supervisor at Early Head Start.
  • Acknowledge children's feelings, read cues and respond appropriately.
  • Use and understands the Early Head Start positive discipline guidance policy.
  • Properly respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur.
  • Submits weekly lesson plans that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers, while respecting the parental and cultural influences of the family.
  • Lifts up to 40lbs.
  • Demonstrate teaching practices that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Abide by the Standards of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Head Start Performance Program Standards (HSPPS) and the Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) cycle used for program guidance and improvement.
  • Completes data entries in My Teaching Strategies and ChildPlus in a timely manner.
  • Maintain individual records on children including screenings, assessments, referrals, documentation of home visitation activities, etc.
  • Maintaining and promptly submitting accurate, complete, and correct records as required by federal/state guidelines, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Assist children with dental hygiene and other daily routine activities.
  • Conduct home-visits and parent conferences accordingly.
  • Administer Ages & Stages Questionnaire accordingly and share results with family.
  • Create classroom bulletin boards while maintaining a cluttered-free and orderly classroom.
  • Support parent participation and engagement.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and appropriate professional development activities.
  • Assure general maintenance, organization, cleanliness, and security of facility.
  • Report any facility or general maintenance issues/concerns to supervisor.
  • Report any child behavioral concerns to supervisor.
  • Report suspected disability cases with supervisor.
  • Report Health & Safety (H & S) issues to H & S Manager.
  • Ensure that children are supervised at all times.
  • Ensure that all cases of suspected abuse and neglect are reported in accordance with Georgia statutes.
  • Performs additional duties as instructed by supervisor and/or director.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Submit a Resume
  • CDA Credential in Early Childhood Education or related credentials in Early Childhood or Infant/Toddler Care
  • At least 6 months experience working with young children and families
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Good judgment to make decisions needed to adhere to safety considerations and appropriate child guidance.
  • Must maintain high degree of professionalism and sensitivity to confidentiality rights of families and employees.
  • Successfully pass a background check, completed once every 5 years.
  • Must possess an interest in children and families.
  • Must have good grammar and writing skills.
  • Must have the ability to write and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must show willingness to acquire basic technology competencies.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a reliable personal vehicle available for use in job related travel with a minimum of liability insurance.
  • Must maintain high degree of professionalism and sensitivity to confidentiality rights of families and employees.
  • Must be available for overnight travel as required.
  • Successfully pass a background check, completed once every 5 years.
  • Within thirty (30) days of employment, pass an initial health screening.
  • Proof of Hepatitis immunization and screening for tuberculosis (TB) to assure that there is no significant risk to the health and safety of others.
  • Must have satisfactorily completed an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR course for infants and toddlers.



EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE

  • 90 day probation period upon hire.
  • Performance evaluated annually by the Director.
