Mid-Ohio Market Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) is looking for a Market Specialist at out Mid-Ohio Market at Gantz. Under the general supervision of the Market Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the day- to-day operations of the market.

Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:00am-4:30pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preps and stages produce pallets for the Market floor.
• Organizes and manages product movement of Market inventory.
• Maintains produce cooler.
• Ensure all produce is pulled and organized before bringing it to Market floor.
• Provides quality check of all food products as often as possible.
• Uses equipment (e.g., Pallet Jack or forklift) to retrieve pallets from freezer/cooler storage area.
• Assist and directs volunteers as needed.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies.
• Participates in special projects as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Food Collective).

Experience: Experience working in a food pantry, market, or grocery store is preferred. Working knowledge of general warehouse machinery and operations is preferred.

Skills/Competencies: Must have strong customer service and communication skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.

JOB CONDITIONS:

This position is often indoors and outdoors throughout the day. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual or electric pallet jack). Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Must be able to work in varying climate temperatures as some duties are performed outdoors.
