This is a full time, night shift position located at MLIH's Crisis Stabilization Unit at the 3 Mile location in Logan, WV.

POSITION PURPOSE:

This employee is to provide nursing services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or licensed medical provider and is responsible for dispensing medications to consumers in the Crisis Stabilization Unit with medication education of both physical and emotional health and document service. This employee may be required to work shift work and will serve as a shift leader to provide leadership as needed. The service must be provided within the scope and standards of the WV Nurse Practice Act.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide direct consumer care through nursing techniques and methods.

  1. Implement physician’s orders including the administration of medication.

  1. Maintain strong professional boundaries with all staff, as well as all current and former consumers.

  1. This position will develop or enhance a working knowledge and understanding of the problems of chemical dependency and behaviors of persons affected by this dependency.

  1. Provide training and leadership to other staff, as needed, and serves as shift leader.

  1. Responsible for maintaining medication in a safe and secure manner.

  1. Complete referrals for consumers.

  1. Assure all employee and consumer documentation is submitted in a timely and accurate manner.

  1. Interact positively with consumers and model appropriate socialization and communication skills.

  1. Serve as a liaison with medical provides, as needed.

  1. Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, daily staffing and discharge planning.

  1. May assist in the evaluation of any admission to the facility.

  1. Serve as a medical resource for consumers and staff. Observes and responds immediately to any accidents or injurie, medication effects, or any unusual incidents. Report and document any unusual event to the Program Manager or designee according to the Incident Report Policy.

  1. Represent MLIH in a positive manner including maintaining a positive attitude, performing duties in a manner in accordance with MLIH’s policies and procedures and Code of Ethics, and treat consumers with dignity and respect.

  1. Utilize Personal Protective Equipment and follow guidelines outlined in MLIH Blood-borne Pathogens trainings.

  1. Perform testing, including nasal swabs and nasopharyngeal swabs, as needed.

  1. Work COVID-19 testing sites, as needed
