PRN opportunities available for either Certified MA or LPN at WellSmart Urgent/Primary Care Clinic in Carencro, La.

Responsible for receiving patients, determining their needs and directing them accordingly. Performs optimal ambulatory health care to patients, stocks and maintains exam rooms and nurses station.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

-Plans and manages patient care according to each patients needs.
-Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition.
-Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature and respiration.
-Provides routine care for patients.
-Observes patients health.
-Reviews patients medical record.
-Communicates with patients and their families.
-Preforms standard diagnostic procedures including EKG.
-Preforms in office testing such as but not limited to: HgA1C, Flu, Strep, Lipids, Glucose, and Urinalysis.
-Prepares specimens for courier.
-Administers medications.
-Provides wound care.
-Prepares and administers injections.
-Assists with patient comfort.
-Maintains medical supply inventory and preforms routine maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
-Counsels patients by transmitting physicians orders, sends medication refills to pharmacy and progress notes to insurance for prior authorization.
-Schedules procedures/imaging, verifying times with patients, preparing charts and pre-admission packets and consent forms.
-Maintains safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures in compliance with legal regulations.
-Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures and federal, state and local requirements.
-Answers phone and returns calls in a timely manner.


Education: Vocational/Technical degree in Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant or related field

License requirement: Must be Louisiana Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant, CPR required. (Please provide your LPN license or MA certification number on application)
