Job Description

We are currently hiring an experienced Lead Traffic Engineer and Project Manager to work in any of our Virginia or DC metro region offices and lead our traffic engineering discipline in our fast-growing engineering group. The ideal candidate will lead, manage, and actively build our traffic engineering practice. He/she will support our engineering team in delivering traffic engineering tasks including operation analyses, safety analyses, roundabout designs, signal design, signing and pavement markings, maintenance of traffic plans, tolling operations, and ITS designs.

Responsibilities:

· Lead the traffic engineering practice

· Prepare design plans, construction documents, specifications, schematic design, and construction estimates as part of Traffic Engineering

· Develop scope and fee for traffic tasks, assist in the preparation of proposals and contracts

· Actively manage the scope, schedule, and budget of traffic tasks

· Responsible for the development of traffic forecasts and traffic analyses, including the organization of data collection, field investigations, calculations, operational and safety analyses, preparation of report tables/figures, and report writing

· Responsible for plan development of signal, signal communications, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) designs

· Prepare signing and pavement marking plans, including sign foundation designs, project special provisions, and quantity estimates.

· Represent CES at technical meetings with agency staff, clients, and contractors.

· Has an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for growth in their personal practice while contributing to the growth of our transportation engineering practice

· Contribute to marketing and business development efforts and have the autonomy to pursue their passions, leads, and clients

· You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors

Qualifications:

· B.S. in Civil Engineering, M.S. in Transportation Engineering

· 8 to 14 years of progressive traffic engineering experience

· Be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks and can coordinate technical matters with public and private entities

· Strong engineering judgment and a solid background in traffic engineering

· Excellent external and internal, oral and written, communication skills

· Ability to manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines

· Proficient computer skills in MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, GuideSign, VISSIM, and Microsoft Office
