Job Summary:

The Child Development Specialist will work within Hamilton Health Center’s Pediatric Department. The position’s focus is to support healthy families, enhance child development, and assist in coordinating comprehensive medical, developmental, and social services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate community resources, ensuring the continuity of care, advocating for the client as needed.
  • Conducts developmental evaluations in the health center or home to assist in planning service needs.
  • Provide anticipatory guidance and services at the center, in the home, and telehealth opportunities as appropriate.
  • Maintain client reports, records, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Provides periodic home visits to the child and family providing support to enhance parent-child interactions and developmental guidance.
  • Supports the family in providing the appropriate environment and activities and strategies to enhance their child’s development.
  • Work as a team member, including families as active equal participants.
  • Collects necessary data and outcomes for reports to funders.
  • Maintains confidentiality and security rules when providing information to internal and external sources.
  • Works within the parameters as defined by Hamilton’s Quality Department and follows established protocols to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in Hamilton’s efforts related to revenue cycle, which include but are not limited to: achieving goals for productivity; meeting or exceeding revenue targets; and expense management as budgeted.
  • Travels throughout the service areas as required.

Minimum Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, public health or related field, preferred.

Minimum Work Experience: Minimum two years’ experience in human services or working with children and families in Public Health, Outreach, Social Work or related preferred, but not required if other relevant experience can be demonstrated. Knowledge of The Joint Commission regulations, bi-lingual speaking preferred.

Other Requirements: Reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area.
