Project Engineer

This role offers the opportunity to function as a key resource in support of our MD, DC and VA offices, including mentoring junior engineers, interacting with clients, managing projects, directly impacting the improvement of infrastructure nationally.

This position offers excellent potential for career advancement as this individual would assist other senior staff in guiding transportation agencies throughout Maryland, DC and Virginia. The ideal candidate is an individual who desires to mentor and oversee junior engineers, displays confidence, and possesses a vast understanding of civil design principles.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing professional design services for transportation and civil engineering projects
  • Developing design plans including roadway and geometric design, traffic engineering, hydraulic analysis and drainage, utility design, site civil design, and construction staging.
  • Coordinating design development and assisting with technical direction to junior engineers.
  • Coordinating with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget.
  • Assisting with the development of specifications, cost estimates, reports and preparing final bid packages.
  • Establishing working relationships and interfacing with client technical staff and project managers.
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical and cost proposals.
  • Attending project meetings with clients, sub-consultants, and the project team.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering.
  • VA and MD Professional Engineer (PE) licenses preferred.
  • VDOT/DDOT/MDOT and/or municipal client experience is a plus.
  • Experience with site civil design is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCADD or Microstation is required.
  • Experienced with Geopak or Civil3D.
  • Hydraulic or Utility Design is desired.
  • Open Roads Designer experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate with clients.
