Warehouse Order Selector - Night Shift

Purpose of this Job:

Responsible for the storage of consumable goods in the warehouse and for the correct selection and packaging of products from the warehouse in accordance with customer orders. Ensure proper and secure stacking and shrink wrapping of items to be delivered to customer accounts. Load tractor trailers with appropriate consumables for next day delivery.

There is a high level of severity associated with a critical error in this position and all tasks must be done with precision.

Food Safety and Quality Statement: This position requires knowledge of and adherence to all food safety regulations and MBI food safety standards and quality standards.

Essential Functions of the Job:

1. Will receive orders from voice warehouse system verifying with order tags and pick customer orders for shipment the next morning.

2. Count and verify all pulled products for order accuracy and to identify any damage or breakage of product.

3. Stack and wrap orders by customer need; ensuring proper stacking, wrapping and securing techniques to prevent breakage during delivery.

4. Merge various products from different areas of the warehouse into one complete order (i.e. tobacco, dry goods, frozen foods).

5. Pack loose items into boxes/totes for effective shipment.

6. Tag all orders with proper documentation for customer delivery.

7. Load, properly stacked, tagged, and wrapped pallets onto the tractor trailers for next day delivery using forklifts and pallet jacks.

8. Ensure that entire customer order is located in one place on the trailer for easy of delivery and maintenance of customer satisfaction.

9. Pull orders in a timely manner, ensuring that all orders for the night are pulled correctly and secured safely within the assigned time allocation.

10. Clean and maintain supplies, equipment and storage area to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.

11. All other duties as assigned

Equipment used in the Job:

Rider pallet jack, forklift.

Educational Requirements:

Minimum of a high school education or General Equivalency Diploma.

Number of years Experience:

Minimum six (6) months warehouse experience. Previous experience with warehouse equipment.

Reasoning Ability:

Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, directions, and order tags.

Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

Ability to talk to others (internal customers/coworkers) to convey information effectively and professionally.

Ability to receive verbal picking instructions and verify against written tags.

Typical Physical and Mental demands of the Job:

Concentration, attentiveness, independent judgment and discretion, manage multiple tasks, read and comprehend instructions and work orders. Must be able to see, hear, bend, stoop and reach, operate vehicles and equipment, stand for long periods of time (10 hours), use hands, lift up to 100 pounds manually, up to 30 pounds 25% of the time, up to 60 pounds 50% of the time, and over 60 pounds 25% of the time. Must be able to maintain constant and steady work speed for entire 10 hour shift, sometimes as long as 13 hours.

Work Environment:

Exposed to all degrees of temperatures (from -10 degrees to 80 degrees Fahrenheit).

Average work temperature is 40 degrees for 75% of shift.

Other Considerations:

Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with internal and external customers.

Mezzanine picking (primary): Lifting of items 5 to 10 pounds, reaching and stretching overhead and shoulder height, bending and stooping all for length of work shift.

Mezzanine sorting(primary): Lifting of items 25 to 40 pounds to shoulder height, lifting and twisting all for length of the work shift.
