Qualifications:

You're a good fit if you've created nursing assessment plans, developed treatment plans, understand ASAM admission criteria, can administer daily assessments and medications, and oversee the psychiatric management of the clients.

  • Degree in Nursing
  • 2+ years of experience as a nurse in a detox or similar treatment facility environment
  • State NP license in good standing
  • Current CPR certification
  • Psychiatric and MAT experience preferred
  • Experienced in administering medication orally, subcutaneously, and IM.
  • Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal pain and of a critically dangerous medical emergency and respond appropriately.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to respond physically with swiftness to a patient emergency.
  • Able to respond calmly and timely during an emergency or potential emergency situation.
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria preferred
  • Familiarity with JCAHO Standards of Care for Behavioral Health
  • Electronic Health Record experience

Duties:

  • Administer prescribed medications, as prescribed by medical team
  • Make independent decisions within the scope of their license involving patient care.
  • Use sound judgment in the informing of the Chief Nursing Officer/Charge Nurse and the
  • Medical Director of all decisions made and when/how they should be communicated.
  • Monitor and record through our Electronic Health System all aspects of the patients care which includes;
    • Nursing assessments during intake;
    • Shift Assessments including CIWA and COWS assessments
    • Changes in patient condition and updates on progress; other relevant documentation, that arise with each individual patient.
    • Discharge assessments and paperwork
  • Follow Universal Infections Control Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Ensure that direct care staff performs these precautions as well as abides by Infection Control and Exposure policies.
  • Reconcile medication at the end of each shift which includes the responsibility of accurately maintaining logs of distribution of controlled substances in accordance to regulation and Florida law.
  • Ensure that during shift change the nurse on duty is properly informed of any information needed to continue high standards of care for all patients.
