Kid's Program Director for New Way Ministries - Christian Hope Association

New Way Ministries offers transitional housing for single mothers and children. Because of the nature of this work, ONLY FEMALE applicants will be considered.

Responsible to: NW Director of Programs

Classification: Non-Exempt

Time Commitment: This position is part-time, 26-30 hours per week. The schedule is to be determined by the employee and leadership but should have an approximate split of 85% conducted during business hours and 15% on evenings/weekends.

Compensation: $28/hour, 1 week of paid vacation, paid holidays off.

Qualifications:

  • A committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services or child development is preferred
  • 3-5 years of relative experience working with children, including those who are behaviorally challenged and/or supporting parents in a coaching capacity.

Job Summary: The New Way Kid’s Program Director will be the primary advocate and resource for the needs of all children residing at New Way. This staff member will be expected to cultivate relationships with all the kids, know the needs and challenges, coach mothers in parenting skills, and help find community resources for the children. This employee will also oversee the daycare staff member and the Tuesday night Kid’s Club teachers, ensuring continuity of care with all the children on campus. The Kid’s Program Director will attend training for TBRI (and other models) and be able to help other staff members practice these principles in respective interactions with children.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend weekly program meetings on Monday mornings
  • Assess new children before and at move-in. Make recommendations on compatibility with New Way’s program and begin strategic planning for how the association will best meet the specific needs of new children moving in.
  • Parent coaching with residents
  • Connecting parents to community resources, making referrals, and advocating.
  • Meeting with kids - play therapy
  • Planning and assisting kids activities for any community/family nights (quarterly)
  • Overseeing kids club teachers and Tuesday night volunteers. Approving curriculum and ensuring continuity of care across all staff and volunteer interactions with children
  • Overseeing daycare staff member, ensuring best practices, and scheduling
  • Contribute to staff training regarding care of children
