Job Purpose

The Tool Controller is responsible for the maintenance of all tooling on the production line. The Tool Controller must proactively seek out solutions to maximize productivity to ensure all tooling is properly working prior to shift changes.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspects all tooling throughout the production line to ensure business objectives are being met at a timely manner.
  • Primarily responsible in programing necessary tooling in the PTS system.
  • Supports production, quality, and engineering teams to manage tool availability and increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Troubleshoot any production equipment for potential equipment failure.
  • Create PORs and send to finance department when purchasing any new tooling. Purchases may extend to all calibration or repairs of tooling.
  • Ensure the tool room is fully stocked of items, organized, and kept in a safe environment.
  • Provide PTS quotations for new tooling, modifications, and repair when necessary.
  • Familiarize and understand UCB programming.
  • Preform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, but not required
  • Extensive plant-level experience
  • Technical understanding
  • Understanding of Kaizen and lean manufacturing preferred
  • Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office


Skills & Personal Characteristics

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Suite, XERI, PTS, UCB, and other tooling programs.
  • Strong self-management skills with attention to detail while being on a timed process environment.
  • Excellent communication skills such as active listening and ability to explain the troubleshooting process to production floor personnel.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Outstanding attendance records and a continuous interest in learning and training.


Working conditions

  • Wear safety attire or protective gear.
  • Usually work indoors which may not be temperature-controlled. Occasionally work in outdoor spaces.
  • Are sometimes exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
  • Are occasionally exposed to contaminants.
  • Are occasionally exposed to hazardous equipment.
  • Sometimes work within a few feet of other workers.
  • Ability to work in an office typesetting

Physical requirements

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the production floor and facility.
  • Ability to crawl between spaces when need
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.


Education and Experience

  • Basic written and verbal understanding of the English language.
  • Previous professional experience or education within engineering or IT.
  • Experience on a production line.
