Medical Assistant : Immediate Care

POSITION SUMMARY: The Immediate Care Nurse works closely with providers, clinic supervisor and other staff members to provide comprehensive and patient-centered care.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares supplies/equipment and aids provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients including patient screening, histories, and vital signs.
• Perform and completes necessary administrative tasks: record vitals, patient cases, orders, prescription refills, medication authorization, communication of test or examination results, etc.
• Prepares for upcoming appointments to ensure required documentation is received, outside test results, previous studies, etc.
• Inventory supplies and maintains adequate amount needed for clinic. Submit supply order when necessary.
• Oversees appointment bookings and ensures priority is given to patients in emergency situations. Assists in maintaining timely flow clinic.
• Screens patient, administers POC tests or medications, observes, records and reports patient’s condition to medications and treatments and notifies provider of any reactions.
• Educates patients regarding medications, sample collection, treatment directions and take-home instructions.
• Formulates and updates patient care plans.

• Responds to in-house clinic emergencies.

• Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness.
• Cross trains in other roles in the department to help with staffing needs as needed.
• Assist in obtaining prior authorization for procedures and specialists as needed.
• Fax appropriate documents to an outside specialist as needed.
• Must attend all department meetings or clinic meetings, as required.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and abide by HIPAA guidelines.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position on occasion will require you to lift objects up to 15lbs. Strong verbal and written communication skills is required. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise, professionalism, and efficiency. Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position in an outpatient medical office setting. Days and hours of work are weekdays between the hours of 7am to 7pm, and weekends between 8am to 4pm. Based on business needs, the ability to work an extended and flexible schedule at times, including some overtime as approved in advance, may be required.

Travel:

This position may require travel to all White-Wilson clinics.

Work Environment:

This position requires regular and reliable on-site attendance.
