THIS IS AN INSTRUCTOR ASSISTANT SUBSTITUTE POSITION (YOU CAN CHOOSE THE DAYS YOU ARE AVAILABLE FROM 8:30 -2:30 EACH WEEK)

You will be covering full time staff during time off and sick days.

There are no guaranteed minimum hours for this position and days needed will vary.

SUMMARY

Performs any combination of instructional tasks as assigned by the instructor. Assists with teaching techniques and daily instructional processes. Provides physical assistance to program participants to meet individual needs. Implements formal behavior intervention procedures and assists with actual work or learning activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other Duties may be assigned.

  • Continually supervises program participants through the course of their daily activities to ensure primarily their safety and welfare.
  • Assists program participants with their daily instructional processes as prescribed by the instructor. Processes usually include escorting participants to and from various destinations providing one on one assistance as needed. Records daily participant performance data.
  • Provides physical assistance to participants, as needed, with self-help needs, personal hygiene, toileting, and dressing.
  • Supervises assigned participants during snack and mealtime to ensure client safety, provides physical assistance, as needed, and encourages the use of good table manners.
  • Provides assistance with group activities as well as recreational outings to ensure involvement of individual participants in activities and proper supervision of the group as a whole.
  • Behaviorally manages or oversees participants, under supervision of the instructor, which includes implementation of form behavior intervention procedures (ACT), recording and charting data, providing physical assistance where needed if disruptive behavior develops.
  • Assists participants in work activities including set-up of individual work stations, quality control activities on production and recording individual work time and productions results. Assists in the transport of raw and finished work products as needed.
  • Attends participant staff meetings to participate in the service planning process as required.
  • Supervises participants and renders assistance in the daily process of their transportation.
  • Discusses assigned teaching/learning/production assignments with the instructor to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • As needed and/or required, cleans training or work areas, which includes rest rooms that have been utilized.
  • As needed and/or required, performs a variety of vacuuming chores. Washes table tops when soiled or as needed.
  • Performs other essential functions as requested or required by the instructor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

In the absence of the instructor, oversees the assigned tasks or learning objectives of approximately 20 CCARC program participants.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent certification required. Prior instructor assistance experience helpful, however not required.

Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and efficiently with program participants, staff members, family members, other caregivers, independent support coordinators and other support providers.

Emotional stability and maturity with a genuine interest in working with program participants.

Willingness to comply with in-service, training or other mandates.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions; is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment at times can be loud.

OCCUPATIONAL RISKS

This position involves exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Protective measures are required. Hepatitis B Vaccine is highly recommended. There is a potential for injury in this position if proper safety procedures and protocols are not followed or if violations are not promptly reported.
