Job Description
Bloomsbury is seeking a summer Marketing and Publicity Intern for its Special Interest team. The intern will assist our small team in the publication and promotion of specialty nonfiction books in popular science, sports & fitness, military history, wildlife, and crafting, as well as the newly acquired Head of Zeus. Please note that interns will not be working with Sarah J. Maas titles or YA/Children’s books. Wage: $18.00/hr
Duration: This position will begin on May 1, 2024. Internships run for 3 months with a possible exertion to 6 months.
Time commitment: We require a commitment of up to 20 hours per week. Availability must include the core hours of 10:00-4:00 Monday through Thursday.
Location: Candidates must reside in NY, NJ, CT, or PA. Although this position is remote-flexible, we will give preference to candidates able to work in person 1-2 days per week in our Herald Square office in New York City.
Requirements:Since we are a small team, interns play an integral role in our day-to-day operations. Intern projects reflect the diverse aspects of trade publishing, including:
- Attending editorial meetings
- Completing publicity, influencer, and institutional research
- Drafting galley letters, press releases, and marketing materials
- Assisting the publicity department in media tracking and pitching
- Contributing content to our social media accounts
- Managing departmental shipping
- Providing administrative support to the marketing and publicity team
- Updating data systems as needed
Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, able to manage their own time, and highly organized. Candidates must have a demonstrably strong interest in publishing. Interns will have the opportunity to attend programming designed to introduce them to the various departments within Bloomsbury, provide them with networking opportunities, and prepare them for the job application process.
