SUMMARY

Performs a variety of managerial and direct retail selling tasks. Responsible for the day-to-day managerial functions, as well as supervision of store employees. Ensures the store is well stocked and merchandise attractively displayed; oversees sales promotions/events; ensures top notch customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provides training and direction to sales associates on an ongoing basis, to include corrective actions. Instills strong customer service and work ethic in staff.
  2. Sorts, grades, prices and stocks clothing and accessories for retail sales. Ensures staff is trained to recognize and keep abreast of "brand name labels" and prices accordingly.
  3. Prepares and executes special sales and promotional activities.
  4. Communicates and submits timely information to the Key Center Foundation in preparation of media coverage.
  5. Participates in community and/or organization events that further the store's exposure and sales.
  6. Periodically conducts online research and visits competitor junior resale stores, consignments, etc. to observe pricing and sales tactics. Uses that knowledge to enhance the sales and operations of the junior store.
  7. Stays abreast of current fashion trends; ensures the junior store is up to date in merchandising, displays, staging, etc.
  8. Ensures that staff maintain a clean, attractive and well stocked sales floor; trains and assists staff, as needed with staging displays.
  9. Provides for an orderly, neat, clean, secure and safe environment within the store premises.
  10. Conducts inventory at least quarterly; more often as requested or required by the Retail Sales and Operations Manager.
  11. Responsible for ensuring the inventory is of high quality with a wide selection of brands and styles appealing to the sellers and customers.
  12. Maintains the POS system to include inventory, seller and customer databases.
  13. Provides training and direction in the use/functionality of the POS system.
  14. Responsible for the preparation and balancing of weekly sales reports; responsible for balancing and preparation of bank deposits. Ensures sales associates are fully trained in cash handling and balancing of cash drawers. Resolves any overages/shortage issues by reviewing sales tapes, etc.
  15. Provides for an atmosphere in the store that causes the public to be treated cheerfully, courteously and tactfully. Brings any complaints to the attention of the Retail Sales and Operations Manager, and assists with resolution of the same.
  16. Provides for the efficient coordination of maintenance and repair of the store.
  17. Prepares all sales and other reports as required or requested. Maintains appropriate records, inventory, etc.
  18. Responsible for preparing and ordering store and office supplies.
  19. Acts as a sales associate on an "as needed" basis.
  20. Performs other essential duties as requested or required by the Retail Sales and Operations Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises all full time, part time and/or temporary sales associates; includes evaluations, disciplinary actions, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent certification required. Prefer at least (2) years previous experience in managerial and retail sales.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Florida driver's license with safe driver rating.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and efficiently with employees, volunteers, program participants, and the general public.

Emotional stability and maturity with a genuine interest in working with the public, and with program participants and volunteers.

Willingness to comply with in-service, training or other mandates.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
