Summary

CHS has an exciting new opportunity in our Information Technology group. We are looking for a Principal IT Business Relationship Manager for the newly formed Transportation function. As a strategic business partner, this leader is a key enabler to the Transportation Function strategy and the creation of business value and is accountable for end-to-end IT delivery and value realization. The IT Business Relationship Manager acts as a technology thought leader and ensures strategic and tactical alignment between the Function and IT. This leader will also bring ideas on how new technology can accelerate strategy execution and enhance return on investment.

Responsibilities
  • As a valued strategic business partner, collaborate with Functional leaders to support, promote and execute the Transportation strategies.
  • Lead Transportation in their digital journey to digitize key processes and drive automation.
  • Leverage business architecture principles to define, influence and maintain key business capabilities, enabled by technology. Manage the process from business strategy to business capability to digital capabilities and technology strategies.
  • Translate business / functional requirements and technology enablement strategies into IT roadmaps, and long-term IT investment profiles. Ensure business demand and IT supply levels are balanced and manage ongoing discretionary budget demand.
  • Collaborate with IT and functional leaders in a matrixed organizational structure to provide innovative, quality IT solutions that drive business value.
  • Lead the strategic interface between IT and Transportation to stimulate, surface, and shape business demand and ensure that the potential business value from those assets and capabilities is captured, realized, optimized, and recognized.
  • Act as the principal technology advisor and thought leader for the Transportation function and be a champion for identifying and driving innovative IT solutions. Collaborate with Business Readiness and Organizational Change Management teams to coordinate IT transformation that drives business results.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, portfolio managers, product managers and enterprise architecture to develop and maintain multi-year business capability roadmaps that drive business value.
  • Ensure the Transportation function optimizes their technology investments & leverage them to advance business goals and strategy. Measure, validate and communicate business value realized with functional leadership on a periodic basis.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of the Transportation function and build effective relationships, both horizontally and vertically.
  • Act as a liaison between the Transportation function and IT; facilitate communication and understanding of the business model with stakeholders; educate functional partners about IT processes, roles, products, policies and capabilities. Ensure Transportation’s unique needs are incorporated in IT standards and Enterprise solutions.
  • Ensure project, roadmap and initiative execution progress, including consistent and effective communication. This includes managing escalation and managing risk.
  • Ensure key stakeholders are timely informed about program, project or initiative issues and risk, mitigation actions as well as major incidents.
  • Work closely with other IT BRM’s to support end-to-end Business Unit and Function strategy and solutions.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business administration or related discipline (or equivalent years of work experience, education, and training)
  • 10+ years of IT relationship management experience or relative technology leadership experience, to include:
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence and collaborate with BU/Functional leadership and across the IT organization
    • Effective leadership of a team of IT and/or business professionals with a successful track record of effectively driving change and innovation
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate and drive results in a matrixed organization
    • Overseeing projects or programs, with a focus on delivering business value
    • Managing and translating business requirements into technical solutions
    • End to end Service Management (ITIL)
    • Project, Portfolio, and/or Product Management, including developing balanced scorecards and metrics
    • Experience developing and executing business technology strategies and roadmap
    • Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies, SDLC, and Information Security
    • Strong understanding of and experience with IT/Business governance
