Summary

VIP's onsite daycare is seeking a qualifiedLead Daycare Teacherto join our team of passionate child care providers. Our ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and experienced in the early childhood field as well as child-focused, creative, and compassionate.

For 33 years theRoots Daycarehas been nurturing infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in Colchester, VT. It is our mission to provide each child with a high quality, educational, play-based program that will foster their individual creativity and curiosity. We strive to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where everyone feels that their needs are valued and understood. We view families as the experts on their own child and ourselves as the experts on early childhood education. Roots is housed within the headquarters of Vermont Information Processing and is currently attended by 50+ children of VIP employees.

All full time job offers are contingent upon passing a pre-employment background check.

Duties

  • Develop age-appropriate lessons and activities that promote and support the building of social skills, practical capabilities and self-esteem
  • Collaborate with lead teachers to supervise, guide and encourage children's learning and development
  • Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure their safety at all times
  • Communicate with parents regularly on their child’s day to day progress
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards


Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant childcare experience working with groups of children from grade 3 or younger
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to work with young children
  • Knowledge of appropriate practices in early childhood development
  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team
  • Effective and strong communicationskills, written and verbal
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program
  • Ability to lift 25-30 lbs
  • Ability to squat, kneel, sit on the floor, as well as speak with children and families to ensure the health and safety of each child
  • Meets at least one (1) of the following qualifications:
  • 21 college credits in early childhood education or related field OR
  • Associates Degree from an accredited collegein early childhood education or related field OR
  • Completed certification in one of the following: Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program, Child Care Certificate form the Community College of Vermont, or Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level 3 Certificate
