About The Position
Our Baristas have the opportunity to shape our guest experience by providing exceptional knowledge of the resort, and beverage offerings with a passion for excellence and enthusiasm for our guests satisfaction. The Barista provides hotel guests and with quick and efficient beverage/food service with a complete working knowledge of all products served.

What We Expect
Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and serve a selection of espresso drinks, coffee and fresh-pressed juices from the menu while ensuring proper guidelines, established recipes and established Longfellow Standards
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of all beverage and food offerings and ingredients to answer questions and accommodate off-menu requests
  • Building rapport with the guest with above and beyond service
  • Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer suggestions, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests
  • Assist with set-up and cleaning of operational areas, espresso & coffee machines, service counter
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management
  • Assists with responsibilities and duties in the absence of or due to heavy volume in areas of Food & Beverage when needed
  • Comply with Longfellow and SLH work place rules and standards of conduct
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors

 

Who You Are
Ideal candidates will have:

  • High school education or equivalent experiences
  • Coffee/Barista experience or related work preferred
  • Must be able to obtain any required food handing or alcohol serving certifications required by local or state agencies. (BABLO)
  • Hotel/resort experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Portland and surrounding areas, highly desirable, however not required
  • Must be able to be on feet for entire shift and communicate with guests appropriately and effectively
  • Above and beyond attitude is required as well as a flexible schedule with ability to work weekends/holidays and evenings
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills
  • Works in a careful and meticulous nature
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment
  • Strong interpersonal and team player skills
  • Ability to accurately process cash, room charges and credit card transactions
  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests
  • All applicants must have the proper legal documents to work in the United States
