PRN - GI Registered Nurse - Ambulatory

Inova McLean Surgery Center is a full service ambulatory outpatient facility. We provide cost-effective outpatient services using modern, state-of-the-art technology in a friendly and caring environment by highly-skilled, compassionate staff serving the Washington DC Metro area.

HOURS:

• Day shift only, Monday-Friday. No nights, holidays, or weekends.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

• Circulates and assists in GI procedures, i.e. egd, colonoscopy, etc.
• Provides communication between team members within the endoscopy suite and outside the endoscopy suite.
• Informs the OR Nurse Manager of case progress and reports and unusual circumstances.
• Arranges room for specific GI procedure.
• Verifies proper function of necessary equipment.
• Assures that adequate supplies are available per procedure.
• Verifies operative consent for correct patient, procedure & physician. Ensures all documentation is signed, dated and timed. Verifies chart has complete and updated history & physical.
• Assists in patient transport to and from the GI room.
• May assist anesthesia provider during induction & during other crucial periods.
• Assists with decontamination of equipment and instruments using detergents and disinfectant solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Current licensure in Virginia (or reciprocal state) as a Registered Nurse
Progressive work experience in Endoscopy Suite, no less than one year
Current BLS certification
ACLS preferred within six (6) months of date of hire
Competence in oral and written communication
