Salary: DOE

The Production Machine Operator position performs all tasks involved in the packaging of the Company’s products. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Some principal duties and responsibilities may or may not apply.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Operates packaging equipment to package dry goods product. Prepares packaging materials and shipping information for packaged materials as assigned by department supervisor.

  2. Starts, adjusts and repairs specialized packaging machinery, as requested.

  3. Transfers packaged goods to pallets for shipping. Prepares shipments for UPS or common carrier pick up.

  4. Is responsible for immediately reporting any unsafe food safety practices or any other unsafe practice to management. 

 

  1. Complies with Food quality-assurance processes for compliance to standards and regulations with the internal quality system.

  2. Operates packaging equipment to package dry goods product.
  3. Prepares packaging materials and shipping information for packaged materials.

  4. Makes certain that product samples are submitted to Laboratory on a daily basis.

  5. Helps take monthly physical inventory of factory items. Forwards appropriate results to Plant Manager.
     
  6. Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.

  7. Assists in assembling dry product dispensers as requested. Packages and prepares shipments to customers.

  8. Maintains a clean and safe work area.

Work Relationships and Scope:

 

Reports to Plant and Quality Control Manager.  Works regularly with other production employees.  Has occasional contact with laboratory and office employees.   Intermittent contact with some customers.  Also, on occasion, works with vendors and suppliers of raw materials and packaging/shipping supplies.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Physical Demands:

Most of work is performed in a dry food manufacturing environment.  Most of job responsibilities performed while standing or sitting.  Bending and lifting of packaging materials is required.  May lift up to 50 pounds, although, not on a regular basis.  Regular exposure to dust, moving parts and noise from equipment.  Exposure to hot and cold weather in shipping and receiving area. 

 

Required Education and Experience:

 

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Previous production experience which includes the following:
    1. Must possess: good understanding of production and packaging equipment operation.
    2. Good interpersonal communication skills for interacting with co-workers.
    3. Must be able to read and understand plant procedure manuals.
    4. Proficient use of a computer, basic technically of manufacturing machines.
