Work schedule: 10 Hour Shift, 5 shifts on/ 2 shifts off



POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager to work at our mining operations in Yoder, WY.  This role is designed for an individual with 3 or more years of health and safety experience in the mining industry and is familiar with MSHA guidelines.  The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for maintaining a culture of safety. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain and continually examine operational practices to ensure compliance with MSHA guidelines and expectations.
  • Provides leadership and direction in establishing and achieving effective health and safety strategies.
  • On-site ownership of MSHA inspections, creating and implementing action plans.
  • Ensuring leaders and employees are trained and equipped to work safely and manage safety.
  • Monitoring and holding employees accountable for appropriate PPE usage, trains employees on appropriate use, care and storage.
  • Driving continuous improvement by leveraging tools and activities, including: self-assessments and audit processes, incident/near miss investigations, and root case analysis for incident management.
  • Participate in developing and conducting field safety orientation training.
  • Review all critical work plans and be present on site for safety critical operations.
  • Conducts appropriate field environmental testing.
  • Use, calibrate and maintain various field monitoring instrumentation.
  • Ensures proper reporting completed and maintained to standards.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned, will be expected to support operations at the plant.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous industry experience, specific mining experience a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous experience as on-site safety person.
  • BCSP certification(s) either possess or working towards: CIH, CSP, ASP, GSP, OHST, CHST.
  • Experience working with rail safety a plus.
  • Proven results in MSHA inspections/ site standards.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in action planning and delivering changes to impact results.
  • Position will require overnight travel to Yoder, WY 50% of the time.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant finger dexterity necessary 75 pounds.
  • This position is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels. 
  • Frequently climbs ladders and stairs.
  • Work Environment - Work performed in a plant environment. Exposure to inclement weather as most work will be performed outside.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, hard hat and steel toe boots must be worn at all times. Hearing, respiratory and/or fall protection equipment must be worn.

 

Pay

  • $100k+/ Per year DOE
