About this job

Accountable for providing quality computed tomography studies to include abdominal, pelvic, brain, thorax, skeletal, and vascular anatomy for use by the Radiologist in the diagnosis of patient illness. Administers oral and IV contrast media appropriately.

Performcs CT examinations and procedures as requested by the referring physician and Radiologist and prepares equipment and supplies.

Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.

Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.

Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).

Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.

Enters, transmits and reports scan results.


Reports to: Director of Imaging Services


Minimum Education

Graduate of school of Radiologic Technology Required

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) - to be obtained within the first 30 days after hire.

Licenses:
ARRT registered in Radiography and WV licensure. (CT registered preferred). CPR Certification.

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of one-year RT experience. Minimum of six months of current CT experience.Must be physically able to stand long hours and lift heavy objects.Preference will be given to Registered CT applicants with experience.
