Certified Surgical Technologist CST or LPN - Labor & Delivery - FT Midshift

Variable Midshift Schedule. No Call required at this time but may be required in future.

The Family Birthing Technician performs basic patient care and clerical/administrative activities while functioning in a surgical technologist CST role under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Care will include patient care before and after birth, assisting caregivers in births, (e.g. scrubbing for procedures: Caesarean, Natural, etc.), safe and timely transport of patients. Scrub on C-Sections, restore supplies, turnover C-Section OR equipment.

• In conjunction with the RN, conducts accurate sponge, needle and instruments count according to departmental policies. Handles all surgical specimens appropriately.
• Understands and assists in the sanitation requirements of the operating room. Develops and maintains working knowledge of provided services unique to each surgeon to provide optimal support for each procedure.
• Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
• Performs designated sterile and aseptic procedures using proper technique (i.e., venipuncture and phlebotomy, IV insertions, and foley insertions). Maintains sterile field while handling instruments during procedures.

Minimum Education
□ High school diploma or equivalent □ Preferred X Required
