Position Summary

Analyzes, develops and presents major rate design proposals to maintain an effective price structure for Xcel's utilities. Assumes lead role in developing effective pricing strategies for a restructured environment. Oversees the work of lower-level pricing analysts. Ensures that the pricing and costing needs of the business units are met.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and also guide lower level analysts in the preparation of rate design proposals and filing requirements for general rate case filings, miscellaneous filings, and other regulatory filings.

  • Conduct cost of service studies used in general rate cases, miscellaneous filings, and to meet the needs of Xcel's business units to ensure accurate and timely cost information.

  • Develop new rate design proposals or modifications to existing rate structures to ensure maintenance of effective price structures, increased options available to customers for buying energy form Xcel, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate area projects to ensure timely and accurate completion of necessary analyses for rate cases, rate design, revenue forecasting, and cost of service studies.

  • Oversee the development of revenue forecasts and reports of historic revenues for official Company budgets and rate cases.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of revenue recovery and refund mechanisms to comply with regulatory requirements.

  • Work with the Manager or Director of Pricing and Planning to develop strategies and proposals for effective pricing in a restructured environment.

  • Up to 20% travel to Xcel Energy locations anticipated.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or other technical field.

  • 5 to 8 years experience in Rate Design; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

  • Advanced degree in one of the above areas is desirable.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Preferred experience with Business Objects and SAP.
