POSITION TITLE: Director Merch Operations

BUSINESS/ORGANIZATION: NA COO Org/NA Operations

POSITION REPORTS TO: VP, Merch Ops

LOCATION: BWO, NY                                           

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Dynamic leader responsible for strategically driving the operations process from demand consolidation through bulk goods on floor.  Responsible for the accurate and timely production of bulk goods that support the technical, aesthetic and customer execution requirements. Director will enable agility in buying process to react quickly to changes in  North America demand for Wholesale, Retail, eComm and International Markets.  Critical cross-functional partner to Supply, Merchandising, Planning and Sales teams. Resolves complex PO issues escalated by direct reports. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB: 

  • Strategic Partner with Supply, Merchandising, Planning and Sales leaders to align on business priorities and assortment to produce bulk goods with financial metrics aligned to budget

  • Fills-in for VP of Merch Ops, as necessary. Identify and evaluate cost-savings opportunities & driving efficiencies within the business needs (speed to market) to adopt within overall Operations team

  • Ability to communicate and problem solve product challenges with business partners in support of Global Product Kitchen initative.

  • Strategic ideas to leadership and company operational head.

  • Collaborate with leaders to identify leverage opportunities.

  • Weekly analysis of deliveries by vendor.

  • Lead, develop and manage team members.  Set clear objectives, provide ongoing performance feedback, and evaluate potential.

  • Attract, develop and retain talent.

  • Leverage cross-functional synergy within the organization to leverage and champion the Operations role.

  • Accountable for managing team to deliver on-time and in full arrival of proto samples.

  • Maintain seasonal development and bulk calendars with overseas partners.

  • Represents Operations in cross-functional calendar milestones to drive and simplify decision-making.

  • Creates strong relationships with the vendor and supply matrix while maintaining clear knowledge of all their strengths, capabilities, specialties and innovations.

  • Owns Operations for initiatives outside the core seasonal calendar.

  • Identify opportunities/risk and make recommendations to team and cross-functional leaders

  • Filter and liaison all production issues  from overseas vendors to design and merchandising counterparts

  • Delivery tracking: Monitor high-level consolidator dates daily; implement delivery policy.

  • Monitor Weekly WIP tracking

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:           

  • Minimum of 8-10 + years in Production/Operations

       

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Skills: 

  • Product knowledge

  • Attention to detail

  • Critical thinking with the ability to foresee problems and suggest solutions

  • Strong follow through skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and be proactive

  • Strong PC Skills (MS Office, including Excel), PLM

  • Ability to learn custom computer system
