POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSTION:                               RECEIVING/HOUSEPERSON/HANDYPERSON

FLSA DESIGNATION:         NON-EXEMPT

POSITION REPORTS TO:  PURCHASING SUPERVISOR/OPERATIONS MANAGER

SALARY RANGE:                  $18.86 - $22.00 PER HOUR

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, assist with receiving functions and take care of minor repairs throughout the facility while working as a team to accomplish the goals of the position.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Able to set up restaurant/banquet rooms with equipment for functions according to contracts received.
  • Able to clear function rooms including, but not exclusive to, vacuuming, dusting, shampooing of carpets, cleaning mirrors, marble, etc.
  • Able to provide any additional restaurant/banquet equipment: i.e., tables, chairs, flipcharts, etc. for function rooms for set-ups in function rooms.
  • The ability to retrieve meeting materials, props, crates, boxes, etc from the receiving dock and store them safely and properly ensuring to log them where appropriate.
  • The ability to ensure function rooms/restaurant are clean and available for showing to guests even when not in use.
  • Responsible for taking care of simple restaurant maintenance.
  • In consultation with direct Manager, schedules outside maintenance to be done, when necessary.   
  • The ability to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of all storage rooms.
  • Follows proper uniform and time and attendance procedures.
  • Provides friendly, courteous and efficient service to all guests by making eye contact, smiling and maintaining proper posture.

OTHER:

  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.  Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, Employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. 
  • Upon employment, all Employees are required to fully comply with Cipriani rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facilities.  Employees who violate organization rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. 

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions:

  • Respond quickly and properly in any Facility emergency situation.
  • Maintain an alert and attentive demeanor at all times in addition to remaining calm during periods of heavy business volumes.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the Facility.
  • The ability to perform other tasks or project as assigned by Cipriani Management.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. 
  • Able to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely.
  • Knowledge of the Facility’s House person requirements and how to use any necessary equipment.
  • Auditory and visual abilities to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors.  Temperature is moderated and controlled by facility environmental systems.
  • Able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an extended period of time.
  • Able to carry & lift up to 75lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. 
  • Able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, twist, walk, crouch, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks.
  • Manual dexterity required to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Talking, hearing and seeing (vision) occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, Supervisors and other Employees. 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:  High school or equivalent education preferred.

Experience Required:  Minimum one-year relevant experience required.

Licenses or Certificates:  Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.

Grooming:  All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Cipriani standards.

Electronic Devices: Personal cellular phones, IPhones, Blackberries, pagers, i-pods, radio/cd players, headsets and/or other electronic devices are not permitted to be worn, carried or used while on duty.
