Summary

Oak Hill Children's Center is a high-quality program (5 STARS in Vermont's Step Ahead Recognition System) located at 72 School House Road, Pownal, Vermont. Oak Hill serves children from the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years. The program includes before/afterschool care and school age summer programming. The Center is open from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and is closed for holidays and staff development days. Oak Hill is an Early Head Start Partner and is also part of the Pre-K Partnership with SVSU. Curriculum is based on the Vermont Early Learning Standards and The Creative Curriculum.

Applicants should have experience working with young children. Candidates should be empathetic, compassionate and show respect for all. Applicants need to work collaboratively with their fellow teachers and communicate effectively with families. Experience with special needs and those suffering from early trauma preferred. Candidates should be flexible, understand the importance of play and embrace the concept that childhood is a messy business. A love of young children is a must. Bachelor's degree in early childhood required. Must be a licensed teacher with Early Childhood endorsement for the State of Vermont or reciprocal state. This could be a full-time or part-time position.

Duties

Provide high quality care and education to preschool age children; work as part of a team to plan and implement developmentally appropriate programming which meets the requirements of the Vermont Early Learning Standards; fulfill Pre-K Partnership requirements; child assessments; communicate effectively with children, families, co-workers, specialists and community partners.

Requirements

  • At least one year experience working with young children
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or related field
  • Teaching license with Early Childhood Endorsement for the State of Vermont or reciprocal state
