Job Overview: As a Mig Welder, you will be responsible for performing welding operations using the Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding process. You will work with various metals to create, repair, and assemble metal structures and components according to specifications and industry standards. Your role will require a keen eye for detail, precision, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up welding equipment, including selecting appropriate welding materials, gas mixtures, and wire feed speeds.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to understand project specifications.
  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and cutting metal pieces as necessary.
  • Perform welding operations using MIG welding techniques to join metal parts accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor and adjust welding parameters during the welding process to maintain the quality and integrity of the welds.
  • Inspect finished welds for defects, such as cracks, holes, and porosity, and perform necessary rework if required.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel, to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Maintain and clean welding equipment regularly to ensure its optimal performance and longevity.
  • Document and record welding parameters, materials used, and work completed for quality control and traceability purposes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in welding is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a MIG welder, with a strong portfolio of past work.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Solid understanding of welding techniques, metal properties, and metallurgy.
  • Familiarity with various metals and their appropriate welding procedures.
  • Ability to operate and maintain welding equipment, including MIG welding machines, torches, and related tools.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong physical stamina and dexterity to work in various positions and environments.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to welding operations.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and address welding issues or defects.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift and carry heavy materials and equipment.
  • Stand, bend, stoop, and work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, and safety goggles.
