Job Summary:


The Hotel Operations Intern will receive hands-on training and experience with hotel and revenue management. They will work primarily at the hotel Front Desk, making the first impression for guests by extending a warm and friendly smile, and providing information about the hotel and local area. Their primary responsibility at the Front Desk will be to check in and check out hotel guests and fulfill guest requests. They will also work with the Front Office Manager to learn about room and revenue management. At the end of the internship, they will understand how all Operations departments coordinate to maximize revenue and guest satisfaction.

Hotel Operations Functions


· Support Front Office Manager in maintaining excellent guest service by Front Office staff.

· Assists the Front Office by accurately checking in/out guests at the hotel.

· Learn room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.

· Operate telephones by answering calls and transferring them to the proper extension, if needed.

· Making guest hotel reservations via phone or at the front desk in person.

· Attend and participate in team meetings.

· Assists in overseeing the administration of all Front Desk, Bellmen/ shuttle personnel.

· Observes the implementation of policy and procedures to ensure guest satisfaction and overall completion of Front Office tasks.

· Assist Front Desk Manager in motivating, training, and cross training Front Office staff.

· Other administrative tasks include forecasting, group arrival preparation, managing guest satisfaction survey information, and revenue management tasks as needed by the Front Office Manager.

· Reports to the Front Desk Manager and Supervisors.


Revenue Management Functions


· Attend hotel revenue meetings. Assist Revenue Manager and Front Office Manager with Competitive Set pricing, yield management, and online travel agent (OTA) pricing.

· Assist Front Desk Manager with Transient RFP’s and Corporate rate negotiations.

· Assist with the correction of guest billing, corporate group billing (CMP and DMP), and ensure accuracy in communicating rates to clients and management.



Requirements:

· Must be at least 18 years old.

· High School Diploma or Equivalent

· Must be authorized to work in the United States

· Must have own transportation.

· Possess a basic knowledge of excellent service standards as well as etiquette.

· Ability to work well under pressure, dealing with many arrivals and departures within a short period of time.

· Available to work weekends, evening shifts and major holidays (Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, along with other special events from time to time)

· Mandatory compliance with all safety regulations, procedures, policies, and rules

· Regular and predictable attendance.

· Always arrives punctually in full uniform with a neat & professional appearance.

· Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, carrying, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

· Able to lift 25 pounds without assistance and more than 50 pounds with assistance.

· Must be able to multitask several different actions at once.
