SUMMARY: Perform a variety of duties to prepare to ship and receive finished goods and raw materials in accordance with specified requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with and understand work orders and purchase orders, written and verbal instructions for shipping and receiving a variety of materials.
- Prepare freight in accordance with work orders and purchase orders.
- Verify all incoming or outgoing freight is proper material weight, container, label, palletizing, and wrapping as specified on work order or purchase order.
- Verify all freight and notify Production Office of any inventory variance.
- Resolve or bring any problems to attention of department supervisor.
- Complete work orders and purchase orders by recording quantities, lot numbers, and any other required information on the work order or purchase order.
- Load and unload trucks using forklift, pump jacks and barrel handling equipment.
- Follow prescribed safety precautions, established company and department policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, damage, questionable conditions of material to department supervisor.
- Maintain work areas, warehouse aisles, main floor, and facility grounds and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
- Upon completion of daily production, record completed work orders and purchase orders on respective logs and distribute freight to specified areas in warehouse and grounds.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with one to two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic reading and math skills required to allow accurate processing of orders and following of department procedures.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow with acute attention to detail.
- Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Hazardous Waste and Material shipping experiance preferred.
- Train as per Shipping category in Procedure # SAFETY-TRAIN training grid. Retrain every 3 years in Hazardous Waste Handling.
- Review department SOPs with Supervisor.
- Proficient on MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Fourth Shift experience a plus.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Continually required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.
- Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
- Continually work near moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, or kneel.
- Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 and at times more than 50 pounds with mechanical assistance.
- Use lifting equipment and various types of fork trucks (training provided and required).
- Occasionally exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to loud noises.
