The Vertical Sales Manager is critical to Cigna's ability to maximize growth across all segments and markets by leading large Government (state and local), Education (Public K-12 & Colleges/Universities) and Health System (G&E/HSV) client relationships and results in markets where we have a competitive edge and additional opportunity for expansion. Reports directly to the Vertical General Manager and is a member of the local Market Senior Leadership team in markets to which they are assigned. which they are responsible. The Vertical Sales Manager is responsible for:

* Retention and earnings for O3K Vertical business (G&E/HSV) in assigned market(s)

* Supporting and cultivating profitable new business growth in the Vertical in assigned market(s)

* Supporting new business and renewal/retention efforts for Vertical business across all markets as Vertical SME, in partnership with local market teams

* Serving as the prominent public sector and community face of Cigna in assigned market(s)

* Building key community and public sector relationships in assigned market(s)

* Mentoring identified Market Growth Leaders (MGL) and Sales Managers (SM) in non-scale Vertical markets, empowering them for success in the G&E/HSV sector.

In achieving the above, candidate will be expected to:

* Formulate and execute comprehensive sales strategies tailored to the unique demands of vertical clients)

* Drives initiatives to retain existing clients while identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for growth within the sector.

* Ensures Top Account plans are created and executed on by the Account Management team members.

* Works with key stakeholders and partners to ensure an integrated approach to account development strategies and proactive service strategy.

* Partners with Account Executives and Client Managers to manage the renewal and presentation process for assigned clients.

* Ensures completion of all strategic market and client retention plans; holds systematic meeting schedules with staff, producers, and customers.

* Supports the new business sales efforts in their market(s) by collaborating and partnering with the Government & Education and Health System Distribution Lead (GEDL and HSDL)in RFP response support, finalist meeting preparation and presentation and other activities as needed.

* Coaches individuals to enhance expertise in the vertical business, including 1-3 targeted MGLs per year as identified in partnership with U3k leadership.

* Lead, mentor and manage a team of account executives, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet individual and team targets.

* Partners with the MGL on target marketing and long-term retention strategies.

* Stays informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to adapt sales strategies accordingly.

* Fosters strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and ensuring our solutions align with their objectives.

* Completes all reporting requirements on time.

* Ensures the use of, and accurate and timely completion, SalesForce.com (SFDC).

* Implements metrics and KPIs to monitor team and individual performance, providing regular feedback and implementing improvement plans as needed.

* Works closely with other departments, such as marketing and product development, to align strategies and enhance overall organizational performance.

* Acts, in collaboration with MGLs, as the external face for the market in public sector by engaging in community events, national and local conferences, and local council and board meetings to enhance our presence and build relationships.

This position must have demonstrated superior capabilities in leadership, driving existing business retention and growth plan execution with a focus on state and local government, education and health systems, sector, influencing and negotiation skills, distribution management and successfully leading in a changing market.
