About this position:

Baker Publishing Group is seeking an Art Director who will be responsible for conceptualizing and art directing book covers. Candidate will participate in strategic meetings with internal colleagues as well as authors to develop creative, high-impact book covers. The candidate must have the ability to build collaborative relationships with multiple departments in the publishing house. Must be able to manage producing multiple book covers for the three selling seasons. Experience in publishing is preferred. Not open for remote.

Essential Functions:

• Direct the development, communication, and execution of compelling and creative book covers
• Maintain budgets
• Work with Production department for best quality print covers
• Work closely with Marketing and with Visual Communications teams

Qualifications:

• Degree in Graphic Design or related field and 10+ years design experience in a professional setting
• Thorough familiarity in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
• Self-motivated and ability to follow-through
• Experience working with clients
• Careful attention to detail; strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated aptitude for composition and typography as well as use of graphic elements, illustration, and photography
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability meet deadlines, and work well under pressure

Compensation and Benefits:
